Lets get tropical!
I was reading the news about the latest developments in Tibet recently. A friend of mine, David who was in Shanghai originally planned to visit Tibet during the same period but had to cancel his trip rather hastily due to the unrest and instead, chose to travel to India.
We were discussing about the real dangers of traveling but yet at the same time both of us readily admit that such complications during our journey is the very essence of why we travel in the first place; to discover things that are lost beyond our senses, beyond words from a travel guide.
Incidents in places such as Tibet or Myanmar during these past few weeks have hogged the headlines for all the wrong reasons but at the very essence of all these turmoil lies countries that are untouched, spectacularly beautiful, blessed with natural wonderment and whose people’s warmth will thaw any cold nights.
Yet the dangers are real and as much as we want to risk it all and visit such countries and experience their generosity first hand, we too, need to readily admit to our own sense of mortality and limitations.
For David, he vowed to visit Tibet when everything has calmed down. For now he just plans to lie low in Goa.
For myself, I am actually looking forward to the month of April. One reason is that I am turning 30 this month and other than the fact that I might lose bone density according to a health pamphlet, I am rather excited.
Other than that, Itchytraveller.com continues to grow with the continuous support from you, our business partners and our families. Without your generosity, I would never even envision us being here at this juncture given how limited our resources were. So a big Thank You to you all.
This April, we will be going tropical. We will be bringing you to islands; some of which you’ve been, heard of or have read about and some which you never knew existed. These journeys and discoveries will carry us through April.
This week alone we will be bringing you to Sri Lanka , the South of Thailand , a list of Hidden Havens and the Island of Sulawesi as well as an introduction to some of the islands that can be found right here in Singapore as well as those in Malaysia .
Throughout this month, our writers will also be busy eating and reviewing food places in our sunny island. This week we start off at this new eatery that can be found at Simpang Bedok (Bedok Corner) called Badoque.
Of course, we are not forgetting our increasingly popular Monthly Quiz. For the month of March alone, we received more than 300 entries. Unfortunately there can be only 1 winner for the prize of 5 days 4 nights stay in Bali. Due to the popular demand we will be offering the same prize for the month of April. So here is your second chance of winning this great prize. Also do read up on the experience of our first ever winner here at Itchytraveller.com as well as insightful letters to the editor ..
In April, Itchytraveller.com will be organizing 2 events as promised exclusively for our members. We hope that you will register yourself to get updates on these events and be a part of this growing community.
And before I forget, have a fantastic April's Fool ahead..
