Brownie-Palooza @ P.Osh

In a much bypassed area in Dhoby Ghaut, lies a unique enclave that does brisk business in the
brownie3_517251312.jpg sale of sweets, specifically decadent brownies. I happened to chance upon this gem while I was meandering my way through the many turns and suprise entrances that make up the Dhoby Ghaut interchange. With it's distinct black and white signage and it's promise of a brownie movement and a cookie revolution, I must say my interest was piqued.
The many interesting and colourful brownies winking back at me through the glass case of P.Osh fuelled my appetite and the affable crew behind the counter gamely offered me a sample. The sample was but an appetizer to what would turn into a brownie-palooza for the chocoholic in me!

Owner Joshua recommended the 5 brownies in a box which would set you back less than $15. However, P.Osh did offer 13 different types of brownies and well I just had to try them all so we went for the P.Osh Decadence, a brownie sampler of 10 mini brownies which set us back $20. We chose the more exotic 10 ranging from Chill E. Choc to Coff E. Choc as well as newbie Mint Choc.
A definite sensory overload! According to Joshua, all their brownies are made fresh daily and using only natural ingredients which ups quality control and as well as a bonus for the health conscious who want their cake and eat it too. (no shortening or preservatives). Brownies are made au'naturale.

So now down to the taste test, P.Osh brownies are truly the chewiest I've ever tasted, they felt
brownie4_398244350.jpg full and heavy in the mouth and were extremely chocolaty. The texture and consistency was just right so we did not feel 'jelak' (cloying) even after our third brownie. The brownie base is the same for all their creations except for their premium and walnut brownie and only the toppings differed, yet these toppings gave these brownies added character and attitude.

The more exceptional ones had to be the surprising Chill E. Choc which was literally an explosion of flavours in the mouth. The initial bite revealed hints of ginger and a spicy pepper which then changed to a cardamom and hints of cinnamon even and yet the deep chocolate flavour was never overpowered. It really was a surprising infusion that kept us guessing and wanting more.

The Milk E. Choc (milk cream) was another hit as it had nostalgia going for it. The milk cream topping was reminiscent of the white rabbit candy that we used to buy from the provision shop by the dozen. This milk cream was a melted, chewy mess that went beautifully with the brownie.
The flavours of rich milk cream and the deep chocolate brownie complemented each other and brought something totally new to an old favourite. A definite favourite for the child in you!

Rounding up the top 3 is the Coff E. Choc (coffee caramel) which blended 2 strong flavours coffee and chocolate harmoniously. Neither flavour was overpowering the other and in fact,
brownie11_748272842.jpg eating it straight from the oven, (as we did), the bittersweet coffee packs a punch in your mouth from the first bite and as the coffee caramel oozes down the brownie, one just can't help lapping up more. Probably the best thing about this brownie is that it tasted exactly the same the next day. It was not hard and did not have that stale taste that sometimes plague store bought brownies that have been kept overnight. For this, I give it 2 thumbs up and declare it my favourite brownie from P.Osh.
Recommendations from the owner and brownie connoisseur Joshua, these brownies are best enjoyed with a glass of milk, preferably some oat milk for that wholesome feeling or even some lime sorbet to cleanse the palate after each brownie tasting. And for that ultra-rich and decadent feeling, you can never go wrong with some ice coffee to pair with those yummy, P.Osh brownies!

Besides brownies, P.Osh also offer a range of up to 12 cheesecakes (though some are seasonal) and 3 types of crunchy cookies, all freshly made on site and using only natural ingredients, so why not come down to P.Osh at Dhoby Exchange and join this brownie movement and spoil yourself silly with their sinful creations that will satiate any sweet tooth craving.

P.Osh is celebrating its 4th Birthday this month of June and has lined up special deals and promotions especially for its customers. So just give in to that sin to binge on some yummy brownies!
