Islands of Terrenganu


Terrenganu, on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia beckons it’s visitors with an easy charm and a promise of unspoken wonders. These wonders can be found on the islamnds surrounding Terrenganu. The islands of Redang, Perhantian, Lang Tengah, Kapas and Tenggol seductively tantalize the senses and the word paradise is never far from the mind when one describes these islands.



Redang
The largest of the islands, it is located 45km off the coast of Terengganu. From the moment you
malaysia_redang_934118880.jpg step onto the island, Redang does not disappoint. The azure water, fringed by snow white beaches is framed against the backdrop of jungle-clad hills. The island boasts two beautiful beaches, Pasir Panjang and Teluk Dalam Kecil.
Pasir Panjang which stretch over 800m is a sun seeker’s ultimate dream. Here, underneath the clear blue sky, one can spend hours basking in the sun (better slather on lots of sunblock!) and catching up on that great book. The beach is lines with a variety of resorts to fit any budget and style.
Redang’s beauty extends to beneath the sea as well. With an underwater world teeming with colourful marine life and beautiful corals, no diver or snorkeller will be disappointed. You might even get to see rare giant clams and a hawksbill turtle or two during these underwater adventures.

Perhentian

Made up of two islands, Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil, it is home to picturesque beaches and warm waters. The waters around Perhentian offer some of the best dive sites in Malaysia. Fusiliers, Scorpianfish and Christmas Tree Worms are among the sights that will leave the most avid snorkeller awestruck!



 

 

Lang Tengah
A 30-minute boat ride from Redang, Lang Tengah is one of the state’s best kept secrets. With unspoilt beaches and few tourists, the rustic beauty of this picturesque island is effortless. The white sand and aquamarine waters make this little island an ideal getaway for thoswe seeking peace and tranquility. The abundant coral and marine life found in these waters also make it an ideal diving spot.

The smaller islands of Kapas and Tenggol are also surrounded by waters teeming with marine life and this is what makes Terengganu a diver’s paradise!
