Langkawi
Known as the land of 99 islands, Langkawi is steeped in folklore and mystery. This makes for a
very enriching experience when one is there. Being an island, you can never stray too far from the beaches. Langkawi is home to a multitude of beaches that each offers something unique. From the exclusivity of the rocky beach at Burau Bay to the sea-sports hub of Cenang Beach, there is a beach to suit every individual and his needs.
For those seeking some underwater magic, head down to the Payar Island Marine Park which is a 30 minute boat ride from town. The marine park is made up of Payar, Segantang, Kaca and Lembu Island. The marine life teeming in these waters is spellbinding and really takes your breath away. Black tip reef sharks as well as other coral fish swim right up to shore and this allows non-swimmers and swimmers alike to experience the magic of Pulau Payar.
Pangkor Island
Lying off Perak on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Pangkor is home to white sandy beaches and charming fishing villages. It’s main attractions are undoubtedly the pristine beaches framed by swaying palms on the western coastline. The beaches here are ideal for sunbathing and picnicking. You can also spot some very friendly birds such as the hornbill which are said to roam the area.
A great snorkeling site with extensive reef is Pasir Bogak Beach which faces the channel between Pangkor and Pangkor Laut. The shallow waters are great for beginners who wish to snorkel and beachcomb.
Pangkor Laut is a mere 20-minute ride from Pangkor and is home to the world famous Pangkor Laut Resort. Here you will be treated like a star and what better way to enjoy these luxuries than taking in the gorgeous sunset on your own tiny part of paradise.
