When a bite at the Carousel is more than just a ride

As its name suggests, Carousel is a delightful place circling with activity – eating! This newly renovated buffet restaurant at the Royal Carousel2_263570524.jpgPlaza on Scotts greets you in bold colours, trendy furnishings and ever-smiling butlers. Four unique dining areas span the open restaurant concept – the Living Room, the State Rooms, the Terrace and the Veranda. Artfully furnished, you know immediately that you are in great hands. And we haven’t even mentioned the food!

Carousel1_444557909.jpgYour gastronomical ride would take you the globe over. From Asian to Mediterranean, Seafood to Rotisserie stations, these cuisine kitchens are very inviting, calling out to you more than once. And even when you think you have had your fill, sit down for a couple of minutes to sip that freshly squeezed orange juice. Three minutes later, you will be ready for the delectable dessert spread that takes up three dessert counters! Coat strawberries in dark chocolate at the chocolate fountain, pick up cold dessert in miniature glasses, take a couple of mini gourmet slices and don’t forget the crème brulee in a porcelain spoon. Very dainty.

Voted top buffet restaurant in Singapore by The Straits Times, there is Chinese New Year special – the traditional French galette with a Chinese twist. Pineapple Galette is making its special appearance from 28th Jan to 21st Feb 2008. Made with layers of puff pastry, roasted pineapple, and glazed with gold dust for prosperity, this is the perfect treat for a gathering and merry-making in the new year of the rat.

Carousel is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. Supper is offered on weekends from 11pm to 3am. A little advice: do come with an empty stomach, so even as you empty your pockets at the exit, you’re guaranteed of a fully satisfied tummy! Make plans to arrive early at the meal time of your choice. After all, buffet is the art of slow-eating. And don’t feel bad about eating for two hours – you will be doing a lot of walking during the reconnoiter and taking-your-pick rounds. Multiply that by at least seven times for the seven satellite kitchens available and you would be in for a grand ride. It’s feast time at the Carousel. Hop on and enjoy the bites!
