Badoque's Corner
Badoque was started up by a bunch of “brudders” – Shaikh, Rizal and another friend.
Upon first entering this café style restaurant, the lime green and black walls definitely sets one at ease. The friendly smiles from what we soon learn are the owners of this establishment promises an evening full of surprises.
The specials for the day are written on the black tiles behind the counter.
Upon enquiring what Chicken Khuzee was, the sweet friendly waitress checks with the chef and replies, “It’s a Moroccan Chicken Stew… but not made by a Moroccan” *smiles*. Moroccan chef or not, its generous slab of moist Chicken simply tears away easily with a fork, accompanied with bread and olives.
Other items of note to try were, the Boston Cheese Melt and the heavenly sounding Panzerotti with Porcini Mushrooms. The Boston Cheese Melt, $6.50 is 2 huge slice of toasted bread covered generously with cheese on top and a small smudge of sun dried tomatoes with a sprinkle of rosemary that comes with organic tapioca chips and vegetable salad on the side, is a definite heaven for all cheese lovers Definitely very different from a regular grilled cheese sandwich.
The Panzerotti with Porcini Mushrooms, $11.50, was made up of mini pasta parcels filled with ricotta cheese, porcini mushrooms, grana padano cheese and slathered with tomato ragout on the top.
Well what can I say, I was impressed! Firstly, the pasta was hand-made, and very nicely too. The porcini mushroom filling inside had the nice smoky flavour of mushrooms without being overwhelmed by the 2 cheeses. The tomato ragout complimented the pasta as it had the right amount of tanginess and full bodied flavour. The extra touch of black pepper on the top completed this exciting gastronomic experience! Definitely a must for any discerning foodie.
