Tanah Lot

One of the most popular places of interest in Bali, which is located on the coast of West Bali, about 12 kilometers from Tabanan City and 20 kilometers from Denpasar. The area comprises a wondrous mixture of natural beauty and sheer human effort. Here lies an idyllic white sand beach with crashing waves, complemented by a small yet majestic temple. This temple, known as Pura Tanah Lot, juts out to sea on a rocky background. As the sun sets, the sky turns a fiery red which frames the beautiful temple nicely. The crashing waves adds to the whole mystique of the place. It is a wondrous experience watching the fiery red sky turn to gold then fading out into orange before the sea seemingly gobbles it up. A truly magical sight on one of the holiest sites in Bali.

Legian.

If it is a more laid back and engaging experience you want, head down to Legian, beachfront town in Bali, located north of Kuta and south of Seminyak. You can start your sun-set experience early by having a slow walk on Legian Beach and the best time to do this is from 5.30 p.m every weekend. The best place to be is in front of Zanzibar and Blue Ocean Restaurant at Jalan DoubleSix Beach, right infront of the ocean waves. Here you will see a group of locals and expats who bring their drums along and position themselves in a half circle, facing the glowing ball of the setting sun. Then one of them starts, drumming ahead while others fall-in to follow. Soon after everything is a crazy, amazing, multi-drumming, dancing, chanting, bombastic sound scene.
The vista of the dramatic coastline and the rolling surf is spectacular, and the rhythmic beatings of the drums add to the carnival-like atmosphere.
As the fiery red ball approaches the zenith of it’s setting, these fire dancers appear and start throwing and whirling their torches in the air, at some stage there are 5 of them all at the same time in a small spot. Everyone is forming different figures and shapes with their fire torches and sticks. So these bright shpes zipping through the air is framed nicely by the sun which is fading into shades of gold and amber and finally violet.
The spectacle of the performances add to the grandeur of the sunsets here on Legian, and that is why it is on out list.

Medewi Beach

For adventure seekers and surfing enthusiasts, there is no sunset than the one on Medewi beach.
Medewi beach is a small resort in the southeast of Jembrana in West Bali. It is located midway between Gilimanuk and Denpasar, just off the main road in Airsatang. If it wasn't for the big sign announcing its presence as you come up over a rise, driving west along the Jembrana coast, you'd never know it was there. Medewi lies in the middle of bali's most sparsely populated and least developed district, the far-off regency of Jembrana 75 kilometers from Denpasar on the main road west (2.5 hours) or 34 kilometers west of Tabanan. All that can be seen are a string of houses and a solitary mosque along the highway. This tiny and remote tourist enclave, at the end of a 500 meter-long asphalt road, is actually one of Bali's premier surf spots - a private paradise for the Japanese and Australian surfing set (the rocky beach is not suitable for sunbathing or swimming). The beach is perfect for surfing because the waves vary from 3m to 7m high.
As is the case everywhere in Bali, the locals are friendly both in and out of the surf. As a bonus, the sunsets at Medewi beach are some of the best in Bali. This adds a kind of glamour to this sleepy, solitary place. A truly hidden gem in the paradise that is Bali.

Uluwatu

This area in Bali is located at the western most tip of Bukit Peninsula, and the sea is the clearest and freshest blue that you could ever imagine. There are many places in Uluwatu that you can experience that beautiful sunset. One of them is at (Pura Uluwatu) one of Bali's six directional temples. Its location is dramatic, perched on the edge of a high cliff with a picturesque sunset view that frames the majestic temple. While walking around the temple during sunset, with the sound of crashing waves below you and the shades of gold streaking the sky, it is no surprise feeling like a princess of some legendary myth. A fairytale moment if there ever was one.
The temple is carved from the enormous limestone rock. ‘Ulu’ means head, ‘watu’ means rock, and ‘Luhur’ implies heavenly, ancestral, original and transcendent all at once. The temple is inhabited by large number of monkeys, who are extremely adept at snatching visitors' belonging, including bags, cameras and eyeglasses. So it is best to keep a very close grip on all your belongings and stow away your eyeglasses if at all possible. But all in all, the spectacular views are definitely worth the trip.
You can also view the spectacular sunsets from the beaches on Uluwatu. These exotic beaches are set in a sort of cave with cliffs looming above. From your perch on the cliff, you might even catch turtles swimming.

Kuta

Last but definitely not least is Kuta. How can we not mention Kuta when talking about the best sunsets in Bali. There is only one word to describe the sunsets in Kuta spectacular. In winter solstice in December, when the sun is close to its lowest point, a large, bright orange, red sun will approach the horizon of Kuta, descending ever so slowly. Brilliant shadows are cast everywhere, golden reflection on the water, and strips of clouds march as if to curtain another day. One light strip of cloud will probably march straight into the view, stealing the completeness of the sun, as if to accessorize it with a flowing silk scarf. Millions pairs of eyes are fixated, as the sun's bottom touches the horizon, and, in a matter of minutes, vanishes from the sight, as if it was never there. It really is like magic and you will be left in wonder at the beauty of the sight.
Bali is truly a most beautiful and magical place and it can take your breath away at any given moment. Romantic…definitely, Memories that last a lifetime…Absolutely!
