Chocolate Bread and Butter Pudding

With Valentine’s Day just round the corner, why not dish up this marvelously decadent pudding laced with chocolate for that loved one? Aphrodisiac or not, this will definitely leave you wanting more!

Ingredients

8 slices good quality bread
Nutella chocolate spread
3 eggs
600ml milk
vanilla essence
3 tbs sugar
50g sultanas

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 160°C. Grease a 3-inch deep ovenproof dish.

2. Spread a very generous layer of Nutella on each bread slice and cut into halves (triangles). Arrange the pieces in layers in the dish, sprinkling the sultanas between each layer until the bread slices have been used up.

3. Place the milk in a saucepan to heat up, but not boiling.

4. In a large bowl, mix together the eggs, vanilla essence and 2tbs sugar then add the hot milk, stirring well.

5. Slowly strain over the bread slices and leave to stand for 15 minutes.

6. Top with a sprinkling of sultanas and the remaining 1tbs sugar.

7. Bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes until the top is golden and crispy, and a knife inserted comes out clean.

It really is a simple recipe that you can either make with your loved one as a Valentine’s Day project or whip up on your own. Either way, you are bound to create an appetite for love. Enjoy!
