Falling in Love at all the Right Places
Falling in Love in all the right places
Even before the last strains of Gong Xi Fa Cai and Lion Dances fade into the background, the worrying of what to do and where to go on that very LOVE-ly day is already setting in. February 14th, the day where people around the world celebrate their love with big gestures of affection and a multitude of roses. It’s Valentine’s Day dear readers and if you’re still wondering how you should spend the day with your loved one, don’t fret, for here we provide you some of the best places to spend this Valentine’s.

For those wanting a hot and steamy night, why not join a salsa dancing class together or hit one of the salsa clubs around town. The salsa is one of the sexiest dances around, and with those killer heels and oh so sexy dresses, any girl can give J-Lo a run for her money. Even if you don’t get the steps right or end up looking like you’ve got 2 left feet, you are bound to have a great time and a good workout to boot. A very appetizing starter for those intending to move on to the horizontal tango later.

For those who appreciate exclusivity with their dinner, why not check out the ‘Love by the River’ package at the Asian Civilisations Museum or Sky Dining on the cable car. One takes you on a journey across rivers and ancient civilizations while the other takes you on a
journey 70 meters above sea level. In either situation, you will definitely feel like the only 2 people on earth, so alone and utterly blissful in your love. So why not take a plunge and splash out a little this Valentine’s, it would definitely be an experience that would endure both time and space.

For the ones who met over a hike or running a marathon, an adrenaline pumping day would be an ideal way to spend Valentine’s. Why not spend the day at Bedok Reservoir and try out all the new water and adventure sports that are available there. From a nice stroll along the jogging path, to heart pumping paddling of the kayak around the reservoir, there won’t be any time for you to be bored. However, if you find this all a little to normal for your taste, then check out the Forest Adventure, which is an exhilarating 2 hours of swinging and zip-lining from tree to tree which are five meters above the ground. A definite adrenaline rush to rival any.

Last but not least, for those who want something simple, yet classic, you can never go
wrong with a food basket filled with strawberries, a chilled bottle of champagne and some yummy chocolates. With these items in hand, you can head down to the many secluded beaches and parks that abound in Singapore. My pick though would be Kent Ridge Park as it is relatively quiet and you will be able to easily find a private area for yourselves that overlooks Keppel harbour and the sea. If that view gets boring, just look up, and you’ll find a million stars winking back at you. With beauty all around you, it’s not too hard to rekindle old flames and new desires.
