There are some movies that depict a country so naturally beautiful that you want to immediately transport yourself there while there are others which give an exaggerated and often ridiculous impression of such locations.

For example, a close friend of mine asked if we could go to see the drift races that are held in a carpark in Tokyo, that can be found in the scenes in the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift because that is one of the reasons why he would ever want to go to Japan. Being a former resident of Tokyo, I told him that drift races are pretty common in Japan but not necessarily held in a carpark late at night, with scantily clad girls hovering all over you.

But we can never ignore the influence movies have on us that motivate our desires to travel. And to commemorate our first movie night on the 24th of April 2008 over at the Screening Room, here is the official list for Itchytraveller.com’s top travel movies.
