How to get there: Several daily flights go to the Guadeloupe Islands from the airport of Paris Orly to the international airport and to the local airport Pôle Caraïbes close to Pointe-à-Pitre. The direct flight lasts 8 hours. Three airline companies propose flights to this destination from Paris.
Weather: The Guadeloupe islands have two seasons – "carême" which is dry and "l'hivernage" which is wet.
The dry season runs from mid-February until mid-August, then the wet season takes over until mid-February.
Travel Documentation and Custom Duty: The Guadeloupe islands are part of France, and, as such, part of Europe. An identity card or a valid passport is all that is required for French citizens.
For European Union and Swiss nationals, a passport without a visa, an official identity card or a valid French residence permit is required. For citizens of countries outside the European Union, you need a valid passport (and a visa in the case of some countries).
